History
FTMC's beginnings date back to 1916 when the 38-bed Norwalk Memorial Hospital opened its doors on Norwalk's West Main Street. Years later, when the hospital had outgrown its space, William A. Fisher and his wife Lura Titus-Fisher challenged the Norwalk community to raise funds to build a new hospital on the south side of town. The Fishers donated $1.2 million toward the effort and Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital opened in 1957 at 272 Benedict Avenue. William Fisher and his brothers went on to form Body by Fisher - now known as General Motor.
